This is a particularly exciting time to join our Directorate as we are investing in several strategic programmes, bringing in additional capacity, expertise, and development opportunities.</p><p>Reporting to the REF and Research Culture Manager, the Research and Knowledge Exchange (RKE) Officer will play a key role in supporting and coordinating a broad range of RKE functions and processes. You will contribute to strengthening the University&rsquo;s research culture, ensuring robust research governance, and enhancing the visibility and impact of RKE activities both internally and externally through effective communications and event coordination.</p><p>A central responsibility of the role is to support the implementation and continuous development of research ethics, integrity, and governance frameworks, ensuring that all relevant policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements are consistently applied. The RKE Officer will also contribute to initiatives that foster a positive and inclusive research environment, promote best practice, and support continuous improvement.</p><p>In addition, you will provide operational support for the University&rsquo;s preparations for the Research Excellence Framework (REF), working collaboratively with academic and professional services colleagues to ensure the timely and accurate coordination of related activities.</p><p>We are seeking a dynamic, proactive and experienced individual with a can-do attitude and excellent communication skills. This is a pivotal appointment at a time of significant investment in research and knowledge exchange, offering the opportunity to shape our research culture, development pathways, and strategic positioning for future assessment exercises.</p><p><strong>About the Role</strong></p><p>Reporting to the Head of Research and Knowledge Exchange, the post holder will take responsibility for coordinating and delivering the University&rsquo;s REF submission. You will work closely with the Pro Vice-Chancellor (RKE), Deans, Directors of Research, Unit of Assessment Leads, and colleagues across academic and professional services to ensure an evidence-based, high-quality and strategically aligned submission.</p><p>A central element of the role involves supporting the development, drafting and quality assurance of research outputs, impact case studies and environment statements. You will also provide expert advice on REF rules and guidance, offer tailored support to academics on identifying and evidencing research impact, and work collaboratively on initiatives to strengthen research culture and the research environment.</p><p>The post holder will additionally lead on the development and implementation of the University&rsquo;s Research Culture plan and will contribute to the University&rsquo;s researcher development agenda, coordinating programmes, managing concordat commitments including the HR Excellence in Research Award, and supporting initiatives that enhance an inclusive and sustainable research environment. You will manage a small team within the Research Environment workstream and collaborate closely with colleagues across the Directorate to ensure cohesive and effective delivery.</p><p>We are looking for a dynamic, proactive individual with strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities and a thorough understanding of research assessment and impact.
