Lecturer Medical Imaging

We are the University of Cumbria, for and from Cumbria and our localities, rooted in serving our communities, with people, place and partnership at our heart.

Now is a very exciting time to be joining us because we are delivering a new "Towards 2030" strategic plan focused on making the most of our three most valuable assets; People, Place and Partnerships, to become a catalyst for economic well-being for our region, nationally and internationally.

Working in partnership with NHS trusts, health and social care providers, service users and carers; our Institute of Health provides initial pre-registration education for a broad range of health care professionals, including occupational therapy, diagnostic radiography, sports rehabilitation and coaching, midwifery, physiotherapy, social work, children and families, psychology, paramedic, counselling,  all four fields of nursing, assistant practitioner and nursing associate.  Our well-established portfolio of continuing professional development is key to workforce development and upskilling of staff who are employed within the sector.  Our aim is to support the skills requirements of the region, by attracting and retaining health professionals who will provide high quality, evidence-based care in a time of change in health and social care.

The Medical Sciences Team are welcoming applications from enthusiastic and self-motivated individuals who have a broad base of experience in medical imaging, but we would particularly welcome applications who have some clinical educational experience or specialist experience working within a specific imaging modality.

Previous experience in a teaching and/or academic management role is desirable but not requirement for the post. A post graduate or a qualification related to teaching in Higher Education is also desirable but not essential for this role as this could be obtained once the role commences.

You will be based at either the Lancaster or Carlisle campus though more flexible working arrangements could be agreed if the majority of the role was allocated to supporting apprenticeship programmes. Apprenticeship programmes are delivered using flexible and distance learning approaches.  You will occasionally be required to travel to other locations to work on group business or clinical education support/assessment. Your role will mainly focus around supporting radiography, assistant practitioner, and apprenticeship programmes.

Your teaching and input is likely focus around your particular skill set and experience though you could also contribute to other areas where your generic healthcare skills could be used to deliver learning activities to other professions.

Applications from individuals with an innovative approach to supporting students at a distance via blended learning apprenticeship programmes will be welcomed.
