Finance Manager

We are the University of Cumbria, for and from Cumbria and our localities, rooted in serving our communities, with people, place and partnership at our heart.

Now is a very exciting time to be joining us because we are delivering a new "Towards 2030" strategic plan focused on making the most of our three most valuable assets; People, Place and Partnerships, to become a catalyst for economic well-being for our region, nationally and internationally.

The Finance Team at the University of Cumbria plays a crucial role in planning, monitoring, and reporting on the institution's financial resources. They provide data-driven analysis to aid decision-making and ensure that financial sustainability is integrated into all activities. Additionally, the team handles payment processing, income collection, and compliance with relevant financial, procurement, and estate-related laws and regulations.

We are in search of a dynamic and proactive individual with extensive experience in business partnering. In this capacity, you will collaborate closely with key stakeholders, challenging them to develop financially sustainable plans, forecasts, and budgets. You will deliver monthly reports and analyses, advising budget holders on variances and guiding them on necessary corrective actions. Furthermore, you will oversee the year-end process for your area and consistently review processes for efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance.

As the key financial lead for designated institutes and services, you will be instrumental in guiding income growth. This includes supporting the development of business cases and investigating data and future trends to ensure the correct allocation of resources. Being part of a team dedicated to similar objectives, the role provides a chance to learn from peers, collaborate effectively, and engage in significant regional initiatives and specific projects.
