We are the University of Cumbria, for and from Cumbria and our localities, rooted in serving our communities, with people, place and partnership at our heart.
Now is a very exciting time to be joining us because we are delivering a new "Towards 2030" strategic plan focused on making the most of our three most valuable assets; People, Place and Partnerships, to become a catalyst for economic well-being for our region, nationally and internationally.
We are delighted to announce that we are seeking to appoint a Professor in Mental Health Research as part of a recently funded large NIHR Mental Health Award. We are looking for a senior academic with a track record in mental health research and knowledge exchange to work with a growing mental health team to examine mental health and inequalities across the Cumbrian landscape so applicants with experience in this broad area are welcomed. Whilst we will work with colleagues and partners to explore priorities, we are especially interested in areas such as crisis care, children and young people, the interface between complex needs and mental health (e.g. autism or learning disabilities) and place and space. But we are also keen to hear from applicants with a portfolio of work in other areas related to mental health and to explore opportunities. We have promised to embed co-production and public and patient participation in every aspect of the Mental Health Award and so candidates with experience of engaging with communities and people with lived experience are welcomed. As part of the award there is a focus on developing ‘a leader and team’ and so those who feel they are working towards significant impact in this area are also encouraged to discuss this post with us further.
We are seeking innovative, creative, high quality researchers, and scholars to foster a culture of exploration, discovery and intellectual challenge that generates international recognition, respect and engagement.
In return, the University offers an attractive benefits package including 35 days' annual leave plus bank holidays, 25 research and scholarly activity days, support for professional development, support to achieve Higher Education Academy/Advance HE accreditation, mentor provision in the first year of employment and opportunity for career development.
