Barrow Campus Supervisor & Accommodation Liaison Officer (0.8FTE)

We are the University of Cumbria, for and from Cumbria and our localities, rooted in serving our communities, with people, place and partnership at our heart.

Now is a very exciting time to be joining us because we are delivering a new "Towards 2030" strategic plan focused on making the most of our three most valuable assets; People, Place and Partnerships, to become a catalyst for economic well-being for our region, nationally and internationally.

Join Us in Shaping the Future of Our New Barrow Campus!
Location: Barrow-in-Furness | Hours: 28 per week (Monday–Friday)

In September 2025, the University is proud to launch a brand-new campus in Barrow-in-Furness — marking an exciting chapter in our growth and commitment to expanding educational opportunities across Cumbria. We’re now looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic individual to join us as our Campus Supervisor & Accommodation Liaison Officer, playing a key role in delivering an exceptional student experience from day one.

About the Role

This is a pivotal position at the heart of campus life. You’ll lead the student enquiry point and reception, ensuring a welcoming and professional front-of-house experience for students, staff, and visitors. You’ll also manage a small team of campus assistants, fostering a culture of excellent customer service.

In addition, you’ll take the lead in developing relationships with local accommodation providers, helping to build a trusted portfolio of student housing options in the Barrow area — including support for students on placement with the Pears Cumbria School of Medicine.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of the Student Enquiry Point and Reception, ensuring a high standard of service.
  • Support smooth campus operations and liaise with external partners including BAE Systems, community groups, and accommodation providers.
  • Act as a key point of contact for professional services and academic colleagues based at Barrow.
  • Provide Fire Warden and First Aid support, and assist with emergency response coordination.
  • Develop and maintain a portfolio of student accommodation options via the University’s Studentpad platform.
  • Occasionally deputise for the Campus Manager and contribute to campus events and strategic projects.

Why Join Us?

This is a unique opportunity to be part of something new and impactful. You’ll help shape the culture and operations of a vibrant new campus, working closely with colleagues across the University and the local community. If you’re passionate about student support, operational excellence, and community engagement, we’d love to hear from you.

Interviews will take place at our Ambleside Campus.
