Do you have previous experience of teaching in a health-related area?

Would you like to teach, shape and develop the next generation of Paramedics?

The University of Cumbria has extensive experience in delivering high quality paramedic education across the UK. Currently we have over 1000 learners on CPD programmes with formal contracts with 9 out of the 11 English ambulance services, as well as an open access paramedic course at our Lancaster campus. This pedigree in paramedic education has led to the creation of the Centre of Excellence in Paramedic Practice (CEPP), which recently won the Preferred Provider Status for the Southern Ambulance Alliance (SWAST, SCAS, SECamb, LAS, IoW), East of England Ambulance Service and North west Ambulance Service for paramedic degree apprenticeships. The University now has over 900 registered learners across the 6 apprenticeship programmes.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly motivated team developing and leading the delivery of Paramedic Apprenticeship Degree Programmes across England. We are seeking to appoint Lecturers in Health Science and there are opportunities in both the SCAS and SECamb programmes. Successful applicants will be supported by the Principal Lecturer, Programme Lead, Senior Lecturers and Clinical Lecturers. The programme is located within a SCAS or SECamb education training centre, and this will be the base location of the appointment. If you would like to discuss the location for either programme, please contact the relevant Principal Lecturer. Over recent years, Allied Health curricula (inclusive of Paramedicine) has diversified to include a broader range of subject areas. This includes an increased emphasis on biology, sociology, public health and research informed practice. In support of this, we are seeking applications from those within and outside the paramedic profession who feel they can contribute towards providing a high quality, research informed education to our students.

You will develop positive working relationships with NHS Trusts and other organisations. The University has previously been shortlisted for the Times Higher Education Outstanding Employer Engagement Award and this is reflected through the collaborative working with several organisations. You will demonstrate enthusiasm for practice-based education and their specialty and be willing to utilise a range of e-learning technologies and other strategies in order to deliver the provision of high-quality learning opportunities and the best possible student experience.

We are seeking innovative, creative, high-quality researchers, and scholars to foster a culture of exploration, discovery and intellectual challenge that generates international recognition, respect and engagement.

In return, the University offers an attractive benefits package including 35 days' annual leave plus bank holidays, 25 research and scholarly activity days, support for professional development, support to achieve Higher Education Academy/Advance HE accreditation, mentor provision in the first year of employment and opportunity for career development.
