Digital Education Transformation Lead

If you have ideas and aspirations about the role that digital could and should play in the future of the university and believe you have a substantial contribution to make, then this employment opportunity is for you!

As part of our new Towards 2030 Strategy, we have invested in a Centre for Digital Transformation (CDT) and are now seeking to recruit a Digital Education Transformation Lead who is committed to proactively contributing to guiding and supporting digital change across our uniquely located multi-campus institution. You will have an established and emergent view of digital transformation, and expertise in digital pedagogy, digital inclusivity, digital knowledge and skills development, digital systems and technologies, and digital research and knowledge exchange. You will be a dynamic, driven, and creative individual who will proactively help to shape and develop the University of Cumbria’s portfolio offer, using a real-world relevant and evidence-informed digital lens.

Working with and reporting to the Director of the CDT, you will help to ensure that the University is a digitally informed and enabled organisation, equipped to thrive in a virtual world of data and information technologies that drive an increasing proportion of economic activity and social interaction. You will proactively contribute to stimulating digital innovation across society and the economy, through collaborating to co-design courses and approaches that result in the development of more digitally capable staff, students and graduates, as well as more digitally enabled businesses and more digitally capable employees. By developing digital expertise in our graduates, the CDT Team will help the University to fulfill its ambition to build a more digital future workforce. By enabling digital development of employers and employees, the CDT Team will assist the University to contribute to creating a more digital economy.

Contract: 1 x full-time permanent contract, with an initial focus on the development of the academic portfolio, and associated staff and student digital capabilities.

Location: the available role is campus-based initially in Lancaster, working across all campuses, with some opportunity for hybrid working – dictated by business need. CDT will relocate to the new Carlisle Citadels campus, planned for 2025/26, where it will join the University’s new Medical School, and Carlisle Business Exchange, to provide the University and City with a Centre for Digital Expertise. You will be required to relocate to the new Citadels campus at this time.

Informal enquiries:

Please contact Professor Amanda ML Taylor-Beswick, Director, Centre for Digital Transformation, email: a.taylor-beswick@cumbria.ac.uk who will be delighted to arrange a time for an informal Teams voice or video call.
