We are the University of Cumbria, a place where people are at the heart of all we do, where enriching the lives of our students, staff and the communities we serve means we make a difference that really matters.
Now is a very exciting time to be joining us because we are delivering a new strategic plan focused on making the most of our three most valuable assets; People, Place and Partnerships, to become a catalyst for economic well-being for our region, nationally and internationally.
The Institute of Science and Environment is split across two sites, Ambleside and Carlisle, to suit the academic portfolio and delivery needs of the programmes. The academic portfolio provides a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes which is currently expanding in response to growing student numbers and employer needs. Science is a specific growth area and the University have invested in facilities and resources to enable the Institute to develop new programmes.
We are seeking to recruit a Senior Science Technician, who will join a successful, experienced and ambitious science team with a reputation for innovation in course design and delivery. The team currently delivers Bachelor of Science programmes in Biomedical Sciences, Applied Chemistry, Zoology and supports Criminology and Forensic Investigation modules. You will also support a new programme in Environmental Science.
The successful candidate will be an experienced technician in a laboratory environment and be able to work flexibly across key STEM areas, with a focus on zoology, biomedical sciences, and the upcoming environmental sciences programme.
As well as the requisite technical skills, you will be required to evidence your ability to work as part of a team demonstrating skills in project and time management and a passion for teaching and learning. Dynamic, self-motivated and professional individuals would particularly suit this post.
Job share will be considered for this role.
